Stories of Spirit…Why I Choose Love [lessons I have learned from the dead]

controlI use to be afraid of the dark.  Not the dark of a bedroom with no lights on; but the dark outside the ring of the campfire & street lights.  I was afraid of the unknown that lurked in the shadow of civilization.

This fear, was something I purposely worked with as an adult.  I remember moving to Newark, and forcing myself to go sit alone in my front yard in the darkness.  My heart would beat rapidly and my mind would race, as I imagined being feasted upon by unseen forces; such as coyotes, bears and crazy half humans.  I knew my fear was imagined, yet there it was.  Loosing my fear of darkness was something that came to me in stages; like riding a bike.  I strategically faced my fear; first sitting in the field alone in the dark, then finding my way through the woods by moonlight.  I was afraid at every step of the way, but as I faced my fear; looking it straight in the eye, I gained inner strength & the fear lost it’s power of me.

We are living in a world entrenched in fear; fear that seeps into every nook and cranny of our being.  We fear the neighbor we do not know, the police officer, the politician, the person who doesn’t look like us, the person who does.  We fear not having enough, loosing our homes, losing the ones we love, we fear flying, driving, walking, eating, and even god.

But let me ask you this…What good does all this fear do?  Does it help you sleep better at night, does it make you happier, safer, less vulnerable?  Like my fear of wild things in the dark of night, it has no benefit.  I was not made safer from my fear, nor was my life enriched in any way, shape or form.

Druid year 10 038One of the things that helped me face my fear; was the knowledge that I was not truly alone.  I may be the only physical body walking through the darkened woods, or sitting under the clouded night sky in my field, but I was not alone.  I had the Spirits of my Ancestors and Loved Ones to accompany me.   None of us are truly alone.  We all have Spirit guides who accompany us, and support us; often trying to make contact and let us know they walk beside us.  I am blessed that as a Medium, I have the fortune of proof.

When we live with the reality; that our Soul exist after Death, fear begins to loose it’s power of us.  For in reality the biggest fear of all, is Death or an ending of being.  I do not like pain, I do not like hunger, I do not like hatred, I do not like oppression, but most of all I do not like fear.  For fear is the soul eater; it paralyzes us and slows our ability to rationalize and problem solve.  Releasing Fears hold over us, does not mean we give up, give in and do nothing.  In fact it often brings about the opposite.  When we release the power Fear has over us, we step forward like a true warrior and say “Fuck that, this is not my reality.”  We may still have difficulties to face, and hardships to overcome.  But we are no longer weak, weary and downtrodden.  We step into our power and then, oh then…we can achieve wonders.

How can we make changes and face our fear?

First of all take a moment to sit with your fears.  Think about what they truly are, follow them through a line of questioning “And then what?”.  Once you are aware of the things you fear most, ask yourself how being afraid is helping you solve those problems.  Then ask yourself what you can do to change the situation.  I know many of you are at this moment saying “I have not control over the things I fear”.  That is true.  We are living in a world filled with chaos, change, and destruction.  But we are also living in a world filled with Lovers, healers, and magic makers.

Brigalovefest38When we turn on the news, radio, and internet, we may miss the lovers & healers.  We can’t always hear them over the clamber of the Fear Mongers, but they are out there.  I know my social media is filled with them.  I hear the comments, & posts of the Lovers and Healers.  They are the ones speaking up and saying “This aggression will not stand man!” (Big Lewbowski love).  I often wonder why we don’t see all the beautiful, loving, things that are happening in the World?  Why are we not seeing those things on TV, and the the Internet.  Why?  Because Fear sells.  It’s a fact folks.  When we are afraid, we go looking for that something, something that will take away the fear.  If we fear for our safety, we need to go buy security systems, guns, and alarms.  When we fear we will not have enough, we need to go buy more stuff so we have stockpiles in  case we need it.  Don’t believe me?  Stop by the local grocery store, when the weather report has announced an expected storm.  People are in there stocking up, like they expect a Zombie Apocalypse.

The lessons I have learned from the Dead about Fear, is that it doesn’t matter worth shit.  You can live your life filled with fear, hiding your light from the world & your still going to die.  You can also live your life out loud, choosing to be fully alive & you are still going to die.  But what changes is way in which you live and the growth of your Spirit.  Nothing is gained by fear.  But oh, there is so much that is gained when we open up to Love.

Love allows us to connect with the world around us.  It allows us to step forward and support our neighbors when they are in need, and it allows us to experience the beauty this world has to offer.  Love does not ask us to lie down and cower, it asks us to step up and do the right thing.  To boldly express the gift that we are to the world.  Love asks us to shine, and share our light with the world.

I choose LOVE…each and every day, I choose LOVE.  I am a Spiritual Warrior, and I am not afraid of hardship.  I do not call it to me, nor do I run from it.  I understand, that as a human being I have come into this incarnation to make a change for the better.  Yes we are living in hard times, but we are here for a reason.  We are powerful, and when we release fear; we give ourselves permission to step up and make the world around us a better place.  The first step to doing this is to choose LOVE over Fear.  Remember you never truly walk alone.  You have a whole team of Spirits walking in your shadow.

Stories of Spirit…Stone Circles, Lavender Fields, & Crystal Mine, oh my! [O’Canada]

stoneloveYesterday I went adventuring in my backyard…Canada that is!  It was such a great day, with such lovely surprises, I can honestly say I will be going back & soon.  I have lived about 45 minutes from the Canadian boarder for over a quarter of a century, and yet I can count the amount of times I have ventured there on my fingers.  It’s not that I am against Canada, it is more that I have taken for granted the country next door.  A few weeks ago, I was invited (or invited myself, which ever story you prefer) to join a couple of local ladies/clients of mine on an adventure to ‘Mine Cristel’ in Bonesecours, QC.  As excited as I was about going to the mine, I have to say I was completely surprised by the wonders I experienced along the way.

Druid Love…the Stanstead Stone Circle

stansteadstonecircleAs a Druid, I can honestly say…I love Stone Circles, in fact I have been known to travel to foreign parts, just to spend time within these Earth Temples.   The Stanstead Stone Circle is located on the 45th parallel; half way between the Earth’s Equator & the North Pole, and on the boarder of Canada & the United States.  No exaggeration on the latter,  you literally cross the boarder in Derby Line, VT and take a right…the Stanstead Circle is less then a 5 minute drive from the United States.  Carrying the energy of Betwixt & Between…half way between the Equator & the North Pole & straddling the line between nations, this circle is aligned to the Autumnal Equinox.  The circle is also a Localvore delight; with all of the granite stones, coming from local mines.

The Stanstead Stone Circle Host events throughout the year.  If your looking for more information, please check out their website

The center stone slab, clearly defines what each stone is aligned to, as well as pointing out the location of the 45th parallel.

In the distance to the East lies two Stones, which are used as focal points for the rising sun on the Autumnal Equinox.

WitchbayMary & Jane, my traveling companions; who so kindly let me join in on their adventure, were great tour guides.  After leaving the Stone Circle they took me by a cool, old manor house in Fitch Bay; which has fondly been nicknamed Witch Bay.  How I wanted to go inside and explore this beauty; with it;s gargoyles and Witch Weather vane.  They were such awesome traveling companions.  When I told them I had not explored Canada much, they kept coming up with cool things we should do on our days adventure, as well as sharing other spots with me I should put on my list of things to see & do, in the Land Next Door.  As we drove through the country side, on our way to ‘Mine Cristel’, they told me of their favorite lunch spots, crystal shops, and eccentric hidey-holes that needed exploring at a later date.  I truly had no idea.  I mean our side of the boarder, is kind of rural and uneventful.  I kind of imagined the same in Canada, like…’nothing to see here’, until Montreal.  LOL, I was very wrong.

Bleu Lavande…an Aromatherapy dream

Our next stop; which in reality was a there and back again stop (meaning we stopped on the way to the mine & again on our way home), was ‘Bleu Lavande’, which as they say on their web page…Is a unique experience for the senses.  Located just outside of Fitch Bay; Bleu Lavande is an amazingly gorgeous, sensual delight.  Fields and fields of Organic Lavender…that’s right, fields and fields of Organic Lavender in Canada.  Anyone who has experienced aromatherapy already knows how amazing this must be.  The energy there was truly zen like.  We visited briefly on the way to ‘Mine Cristel’, and then returned after our Crystal Adventure to enjoy the view and a Lavender Cocktail, Gin (local distillery) & Tonic with Lavender for me…it was Divine.

the Crystal Sanctuary of ‘Mine Cristel’.

My treasures from Mine Cristel

My treasures from Mine Cristel

Mine Cristel;  located in Bonsecours, QC, is more of a Crystal Sanctuary & Educational center then it is a mine.  That being said, Mine Cristel holds a strong crystal vein and produces high quality Quartz Crystals.  I can not say how much I enjoyed visiting this mine.  I mean I was excited to be going to a Crystal Mine, but when I discovered that the owners had designed it to be a sanctuary, and work to educate the public on the power and presence of Crystals…I was elated.  Mining is done in an open pit; with much of the actual mining being done by hand; with the emphasis being on environmental responsibility and honoring the Crystals as Beings.

Again, I would have to say this was a very Zen experience.  The energy of the center @ Mine Cristel, was true yumminess.  You couldn’t help but know you had entered a sanctuary.  The pathways through the woods leading to the mine, were created with Quartz dust; making you feel like you were walking on some kind of magical path…like the Wizard of Oz or something.  It should also be noted that even though the tour was completely in French, English speaking folks were given i-pods to listen to a recording of the tour.  It was cool to be wearing  earphones (complete with crystal necklace) listening to your own version of the story.

In the middle of no-where, on a dirt road you will find Mine Cristel. That's what GPS' are for Folks!

Crystal Adventurers...Mary, Sali & Jane

Crystal Adventurers…Mary, Sali & Jane

I am so thankful to my traveling companions Mary & Jane, who allowed me to come along on their Adventure.  It was a great day going on someone else’s adventure, I think I need to do it more often.  We ended our day of adventure on the back porch of a quaint little restaurant a block away from the Border.  It was located in a neighborhood, so you could easily pass it by as someone’s home.  The food was great and the view from the porch was super cute, homey and well…awesome!

backdoorThanks for reading folks, I hope you enjoyed hearing about my adventure next door.  It really reinforced my belief that the sacred is all around us.  We do not need to travel to exotic locations to experience a Spirit infused life….it’s right there,  in our back yard.  I love to travel, & I love Spiritual Adventure.  The world we live in is so amazingly beautiful, and alive.  When we take the time to open ourselves to the possibilities and start seeing the world with the eyes of an adventurer we can find it anywhere and everywhere.  Living with fullness, allowing our senses to be present in all that we do, is how we are meant to be.  Whether we are exploring our back garden, hopping the border into our neighbors universe, or traveling the world.  It’s all about the way we look at things.

Stories of Spirit…Love & Tolerance in Hateful times [be the change you want to see in the world]

familyLet’s pretend that all the people of the world are your relatives.  Some of them are easy to get along with, others…not so much.  As a Medium, I am always surprised by how much we miss our family members when they are dead; even the grumpy old curmudgeons and the opinionated loudmouths.  We may not want to hang out with them all the time; but suddenly when they are Dead, we find acceptance for their annoying behaviors & allow ourselves to remember them with love.  Now, you may argue here that there are those you are glad to see gone, and in fact there are people in this world whose behaviors are so horrendous; that we feel the world a better place without them.  But on average we accept the members of our family & tribe as being part of the world we exist in & believe they have the right to experience love and wellbeing.  We may not want to hang out with them all the time, but we do not generally wish them ill.

We are living in a time of high emotion; people are overwhelmed with fear & anxiety, and generally find themselves short tempered.  This is to be expected…not appreciated, but expected.  Our world is in turmoil, and we as living inhabitants of a living/conscious planet; are going to feel the pain of the world itself.  Now just for fun, lets add Psychic Evolution to the mix and things get turned up a notch or two; as most of us are developing a deeper level of Empathy.  We are feeling, sensing and being bombarded by the emotions of the world around us.

Empathy is the ability to feel/sense the emotions, feelings and physical pain of others & on a broader scale; the world itself.

Hatred and Anger come out of fear and anxiety.  When we are scared, we start looking around for who & what to blame.  This fear when left to it’s own devices can morph into anger & hatred.   And when it comes to where to place the blame, we have a whole bucket full of things that will work…” It has to be that guy over there, he doesn’t live like I do…he has more then me, she lives a life of sin & worships false idols, they look different, smell different, love different.”  Oh wait! Love is love, is love.  It is an emotion clear and strong, who we love may be different, but love itself.  That’s a Universal truth!

I propose that the only way to battle all the hate in the world is to open our hearts & connect with love; to the world around us.  A simple technique to place us in a space of love, is to take 5 breathes before responding to situations that trigger fear, anger & hatred in us.  In those 5 breathes, try to remember that the person in front of you is also trying in the way they know best to survive in trying times.  That does not mean we let them walk all over us, but it means we practice tolerance and preface every action of our day with LOVE!  It’s not easy to get started, but once we do…oh the worlds we can change!

I have been expanding my work into the world of video, and have added a video with more about this to my professional Facebook page…Salicrow, Psychic Medium….click to watch-  You will find the video on the side of my page.   I hope you have enjoyed the read folks and that you enjoy the watch!
