Stories of Spirit…The Magic of Spring [the vernal equinox, full moon, and the magic of renewal]

Photo-Hannah Frigon 2015

The sun is up before me these last few mornings, & puddles of water are gathering on the melting snow of my driveway…it’s a sure sign that Spring is on the way.  My soul feels it coming, and is ready for the awakening that it offers.  People like animals are in tune with the cycles of nature.  We settle in, get comfy and do a lot of contemplating in Winter & when Spring arrives we are ready for action.  Like the seeds that germinate, our minds are alive with projects waiting to be birthed, and we feel a kindling inside of us wanting to take action.  This energetic space of percolating ideas is a place of magic, from here we transform our thoughts into being.

Magic/manifestation is simply activated prayer.  It is something we are all capable of, we simply need to believe in ourselves and be realistic.  I know that sounds like counter-intuitive after all isn’t magic outside the realm of ‘reality’?

Hollywood Magic is outside the realms of reality, Real Magic exists within the domain of reality with an understanding that it is not as concrete as most of us like to believe.  Real magic has rules and repercussions, real magic takes focus and the ability to soften the boundaries of what we believe.  It is far less flashy than the movie version, but working with it gives us a greater connection to self and far more control over the path our life takes. Real magic is being proven every day by the science of Quantum-physics.  Through the quantum lens, science is finally catching up with what witches & shamans have known forever…the real world is energetic, made up of thought, light and electricity.  Solid is questionable!

I grew up on magic.  It was in the food my grandmother cooked, the paths we walked in the woods, the playing cards on the table and the ancestors coming for a cup of coffee.  Magic was not reserved for the fullness of the moon or the turning of the season.  It happened every day in the simple actions of living.  That being said, I also learned that ‘Big Magic’, the stuff you really desired could be helped along with the aid of the moon, stars, and cycles of the earth.  This belief was further instilled in me when I began formally studying magic (through books, workshops and experimental study).  This study helped me understand how nature could be a strong ally in my magical working.

With this in mind, I am looking forward to vernal equinox and the energy it carries…

This year the arrival of Spring will be especially potent time for igniting our dreams, as the Equinox takes place during a full Moon, one that just so happens to be the last Super Moon of 2019.  During a Super Moon the Full (or new moon) coincides with perigee; meaning the Moon is the closest to the Earth it’s going to be; making the Moon appear very large. I am all for stacking the deck when it comes to manifestation and this combination adds some tasty ingredients to the pot.  If you were to imagine working magic like making a soup, the Moon & Equinox would be like adding prime-organic ingredients to your meal.

So how do we use this energy? What kind of things should we be focusing our prayer/spellwork on?

The Spring Equinox is a time of new beginnings, a time for planting the seeds we wish to nurture throughout the coming year.  It is a time of peeling away the layers (clothes included) we have put upon ourselves during our winter slumber.  It is a time for setting goals that need tending, and time to develop.  It is also a time of balance, in which there are equal hours of light & darkness…a time of setting the proper footing if you will.

I am personally going to use the energy to refresh projects I am already working on, using the energy of renewal and growth to reconnect with that which I have been fostering for years.  Although my magical dreams are not ‘new’ so to speak, they have been refined over the Winter.  One of the big things that came through loud and clear to me in the darkness was that I need to put the squirrel in a cage.  I have been going too fast for too long, and I need to engage in a different pace in order to enjoy the life I am creating for myself…Time for some ‘Big Cat’ action.  More stalking less running around in 20 directions at once.

For those of you looking to use the energy of the Vernal Equinox to help activate magic in your life here is a simple ritual to start with.  It is non-denominational, you can incorporate your own spiritual beliefs as you see fit.

Vernal Equinox/Full Moon Manifestation-

*The Vernal Equinox takes place on Wednesday, March 20th, 11:19pm EST, the Moon becomes full on March 20th @ 9:43pm EST

*Things you will need-A CANDLE (any candle will do, but white candles are great for all-purpose use, and green is good for new beginnings, fertility, and growth), SEEDS (herbs, flowers or something you can grow in a pot), planting soil & a small pot or if your not a grower of green things you can use a crystal (my go-to), spiritual items for your altar.

******************************************************************************************************

Ideally, you want to do your spellwork/prayer/ritual on Wednesday the 20th, preferably between the hours of 10pm & midnight.  This is not necessary but does add some pop to your work.  Please note that full moons and seasonal markers/holidays energy is potent for 3 days prior & 3 days after such events.

  • Set up an altar with your candle, small pot, soil and seeds, spiritual items as you like
  • Light the candle and call in your protective spirits, guides, Gods/Goddess, and other allies
  • Take deep breathes through your nose, imagining with every breath out you are sending protective energy around you, in a sphere of white light (you’re the center of the bubble)
  • Intention is key here.  Take a few moments in meditation, breathing into your circle of light…allowing yourself to imagine your dreams/goals coming to fruition.
  • Hold this deep meditative space while you place the soil in the pot (if you’re using the crystal instead you can skip this step).  This is an act of magic, every step is to be held with thought.  The soil you are placing in the pot is an active ingredient, an ally (go organic)
  • Now pick up your seeds or your crystal.  Cup them in your hands and gently send energy (Reiki is great) into the seed/crystal.  Imagine you are awakening the seed to your potential, placing your dreams within it to germinate.  Pour love and support into the seed/crystal and gently place the seeds into the soil, and place them on the window sill (crystals can go straight to the window sill), make sure to water the seeds.
  • The space on the window sill should receive moonlight for ideal use
  • Close your circle by thanking your spirits, gods/goddess’, allies and putting out your candle
  • over the next weeks, you will need to tend your seed/crystal. Do so by watering the plant, holding the crystal, looking at it longingly, or whatever act of love you have to offer (I sing my magic).  Tend your seed/crystal as if it is precious to you.  You do not need to go back over the work you have set in motion, simply treat your seed/crystal with love and the acknowledgment that you are working magic.
  • It is important in magic that we direct our focus without knit-picking what we are creating/manifesting.  This is what makes most magical prayer fail.  The constant re-doing of magic is like saying to the Universe “I didn’t get it right the first time, second time, third time, etc…”
  • Support your magical working by living your life as if you are already standing in your power.  Remember magic is activated prayer and we should be cautious what we wish for.  Is it really in your greatest good, are you being ethical in your manifestation.  “IN ALL THINGS HARM NONE” is a good tenant to go by. For what we put out comes back to us 3-fold.

I hope the Vernal Equinox finds you with a Spring in your step and a sense of wonder in your heart.  Know that magic is prayer, prayer is spellwork, ritual is sacred creation and we are all co-creators of our lives.  What do you want to manifest this year? I would love to hear what projects you are working on this spring.

Stories of Spirit…Spontaneous Lunar Attunement [solstice full moon]

Lunarattunement1The last few weeks have been pretty amazing on an energetic level.  I have toned with people inside of an urban tunnel, done Geomancy/healing work on the top of Mount Mansfield, attended a phenomenal Crystal Alchemy Intensive, done deep Earth Healing Magic @ the Crown Chakra of the Chakra Ley Line, and had a Spontaneous Lunar Attunement.  Sometimes life’s Wyrd (connected to Fate) moments come in Spades.  I struggle with where to start.  I have had so many amazing moments with Spirit these last few weeks that where to begin is the question.  As last night was the Full Moon & the Summer Solstice, I will start with Spontaneous Lunar Attunement.

I had just come home from my weekend of work & play; at Robert Simmon’s Alchemy of Stones Intensive.  Being energetically charged and exhausted simultaneously, it was a chore to get myself to Lake Willoughby for ceremony with my Tribe.  But I knew it was the perfect ending to a powerful weekend.  So I made my way there; traveling a few minutes down the road with one of my Soul Sisters.  I was not disappointed, and being in sacred space with my tribe in the magical woods of Willoughby, was truly nourishment for my soul.  The moon was late making it’s way over the mountains and we only caught glimpses of her, through the trees while there.  So on the way home I suggested, we drive around one of the little lakes in my home town; hoping for a better glimpse of Luna.  It was not a disappointment.

Lunarattunement2We drove around Newark Pond, and stopped at a little pull off; where the fire trucks usually fill up their tanks.  The Moon was absolutely radiant overhead, and we got out of the car to truly appreciate it.  As we stood there for a few moments, just enjoying the beauty of the Solstice Moon; I could feel my body being charged by it’s light.  I then realized that the rays of the Moon; reflected in the water, were hitting the shore at the exact same spot we were standing in.

Now I do not believe in coincidence, and the energetic vibration of the experience was definitely not ordinary.  My friend and I stood there for about 30 minutes; it’s hard to tell how long we actually stood there, as we have a tendency to warp time when we are together.  The time-warp bit, was in full force as we watched the Moon, her reflection on the water, and the movement of the clouds.  We could actually see the clouds standing still at moments, then at other times the clouds would move through as if they were cogs on a wheel…with systematic pauses, then jumps ahead.  It was truly a wild experience.

lunarattuenement4

When I took this picture (3rd one posted) the Moon looked like an the iris of an eye, with the clouds forming the outline.  The breeze was moving the clouds gently and steadily at that time, and as I got my phone ready for the picture; I thought I would miss it.  But then the clouds just stopped and stood still…literally not moving at all.  After the picture was taken, they began to move again.

lunarattunement3

The Lunar energy; reflecting off the water, and hitting the shore at the space which we stood, was intense.  It was warm and calming, but filled with power.  You could not deny that something magical was happening.  The energy itself; both in it’s reflection and in it’s vibration, resembled a heart beat.  In fact at one point the clouds moving across the Moon, also followed the beat of a heart…stopping and starting, in their movement.  My friend said the Moonlight coming off the water looked like and EKG read-out, and it truly did.  There was also a circular space about half way out in which it looked like the ripples from something being thrown into the spot.  But it never went away the entire time we were there….there it was half way out in the water, what appeared to be a portal.

This week, and over the next few weeks actually.  I will be sharing with you tales of my energetic experiences; as I am going through another opening in my own abilities.  I do not believe I am alone in this.  I believe we as a people are evolving…experiencing a Psychic Evolution.  The warp of time and space is getting wobbly, and wyrd things are happening.  I am excited to be living in this time, when the world around us, is communicating with us on a deep, personal level.  We are the ones we have been waiting for.  We are here to be part of the change.  I would love to hear about your stories of Wyrd, particularly about this rare Solstice Moon.  I hope you enjoyed the read folks.

Holiday…Christmas Moon [full moon magic]

winterMOON (1)The Holidays have been in full gear in my neck of the woods for the last few weeks, in fact…I have finished the majority of my celebrating; as my family celebrates the Winter Solstice/Yuletide, instead of Christmas.  That being said, I couldn’t help but notice the wonderful treat Christmas brings this year…a Full Moon.  The last time we had a Full Moon at Christmas (1977),  I was 6 years old; the most amazing age for Santa’s wonderment.  I don’t remember the Full Moon then, but I am sure it added majestically to the sparkle and shine that was Christmas that year.  This time however, I am ready for the Moon and planning on using it’s Holiday show to move Mountains….Mountains in my own life that is.

There has been a lot of hub-bub on the Internet over the fact that the Full Moon this month falls on Christmas day.  Astronomically, there is nothing particularly special about Christmas day.  However, the close proximity to the Winter Solstice does have significant sway over the Full Moon’s energy.  The second little bit that makes the Christmas, Full Moon significant is belief.  Quantum Physics has proven that thought matters, that what we believe has a direct effect on reality.  The fact that so many people celebrate the 25th of December as a time for family, love, abundance and good will, means something & makes it a potent seed for manifestation.

So, lets first take a look at the Astronomical significance of the Winter Solstice- Full Moon & the energy it holds.  A Full Moon occurs when the Moon is on the opposite side of the Earth from the Sun, and fully illuminated by it’s light.  As the energy of the Moon is receptive, it goes without saying that it is influenced by the position of the Sun.  In the Northern Hemisphere, the Sun begins it’s return or period of growth on the Winter Solstice; which occurred on the 22nd of December this year.  Energetically, this signifies growth and rebirth, for the Sun is sharing its light with us more and more each day.

Christmas is also connected to rebirth & growth.  For Christians, Christmas represents the birth of their God into human form.  It is a time of wonder & joy, salvation & redemption.  In our modern world, many people celebrate Christmas whether they are religiously Christian or not.  Their reasons for celebrating are often the same; wishing for a better world, being thankful for the gifts of change &  humanity.  For many the celebrations of the Winter Solstice have been spread out over the many days of Christmas, to include New Years day…when we all make our resolutions or manifestations for the coming year.  All of these things, that make the Christmas season so magical are shared by people all over the world, under many names and traditions.  So, yes there is a magic to Christmas.  It is a magic on the quantum level; on the level of belief, as Quantum Physics has proven that thought matters; that what we believe we create.  The more people who believe the same, the more power added to the moment.  This makes Christmas a very magical time, for Christmas is about wishing…Wishing for a better life, wishing good will to all, wishing for dolly’s and race cars and chocolate cream pie.  Young and old, rich and poor, Christmas allows us to dream & create.

So now we come to the part I love most…what are we going to do with it?  How are we going to use this energy, that so nicely aligned for us on Christmas Night?

This ceremony is intended for Christmas Night, but can be done tonight or any evening between now & December 28th; as the Full Moon’s energy is potent for 3 days prior to the Moon being full, and 3 days after.  If your busy with guest on Christmas Night, sneak away with your hot chocolate or wine & give yourself the gift of time.  You can do this wherever you happen to be.

You will need- Paper (or a blank Christmas card), pen/marker, a candle, crystals/ornaments/altar items

Set up your Altar…(Altars are temporary or permanent Sacred Space).  As your work this evening is geared toward the Moon, I recommend a shelf or table near a window; where the Moon can shine on it, or outside if possible.  Your Altar can hold items you find sacred; such as crystals, holy symbols, photos of ancestors, etc.  You will also want a simple candle; any color, shape or size will do.

Light your candle and take a few deep breathes.  With every breath in welcome the energy of the Moon, whether you can see it or not; it’s out there.  With every exhale, let go of your every day worries.  As you continue breathing, imagine a sphere of white light surrounding you & connecting you to the Moon.  This light goes above your head and below your feet, you are completely inside of the light.  This light is protective, and acknowledges the work you do as Sacred.  You may welcome the cardinal directions (East, South, West & North) and the elements (Air, Fire, Water, Earth) if you feel drawn to, as well as any Deities and  Spirits you work with.  When your space is created; it is time to get to work.

Let us begin with taking a good look at our present circumstances and how we would like to change them.  Grab a nice piece of paper, or better yet a Christmas card if you have one.  Make a list of the things you need.  I stress Need over Want, as want is a fleeting thing; often determined by our child mind & does not always serve us.  Need on the other hand is the essential pieces necessary to our happiness, growth and stability.  Make your list, just like you would for Jolly Saint Nick; billeted, detailed, in marker or glitter.  Make it sincere, do not sugar coat it or gloss it over in any way, shape or form.  When working with manifestation it is important to be honest, with ourselves as well as the powers that be.  My most potent works of manifestation have happened when I was completely raw.  For me this may mean…naked in the woods, sitting on a ley line/nodal point.  But it has also taken place in a warm room, in my jammies.  It all comes down to vulnerability &  the desire to make change.  That is why honesty & need are so important.  We must to be willing to give all of ourselves; to believe & commit if we want to work magic.  The Moon, no matter how powerful it is; is but a tool for our work, an energetic partner  if you will.  As many of you reading this, have decided to partake in a year long journey of Intuitive development with the Moon.  I would highly suggest that you include your goals for this journey in the work you manifest this night.  When you have created your list, place it on the Altar to absorb the energy of the Christmas Full Moon.

After at least  one night on your Altar; preferably under the Moon Light, you can now take your card or paper with its list and place it somewhere where it will catch your attention.  It is important to not look constantly re-read the list.  In Magic, as well as Quantum Physics, belief is important.  Constantly reworking things we have put into being takes away from it’s potency.  It’s like we are saying we didn’t do it right the first time…adding doubt and disbelief to our work.  My suggestion; is to close the card and only have the image visible, or put your list in an envelope.  Place the card or envelope on your working Altar if you have one, or the top of a dresser or shelf if you do not; someplace where it will catch your eye.  Every time you notice the card/envelope, remember you are working Christmas Moon magic…and send it a bit of energy.  I recommend that you not open the card or list until Christmas of next year.  It will be a real holiday treat to see the work you have achieved.

For those of you partaking in my Lunar Intuition adventure this coming year, this is but a sneak peek at what lies ahead.  Our journey begins with the Dark Moon this January 2nd, I look forward to sharing it with you.  For the rest of you out there…have a Merry Christmas and enjoy the Merry Moon.  I hope you have enjoyed the read Folks.
