Thinning of the Veil

To say that I love Autumn is an understatement, it is by far my favorite season.  I love the smell of the decaying leaves and wood waiting to be stacked and the visual ecstasy of the leaf changing trees.  I love the busyness  of people as they rush to & from preparing  for the upcoming winter like so many squirrels gathering nuts for the winter.  Above all else I love the energy that infuses the season as the veil that separates the world of the living from that of the dead.   As the veil becomes transparent we find ourselves thinking about our loved ones who have passed with a longing as if the season itself reminds us to move closer to those we love wherever they may be.  As a Medium I reside in that in between place that is the veil & am ever aware of the unseen world that is separated from ours by an energetic cellophane.

Samhain  or Halloween is the big gig…it’s the thinnest point of the year, that spot in time when the world of the living and the world of the dead are closest.  Our ancestors took this time to honor their loved ones who had passed over.  Now we could spend a lot of time debating on which came first the honoring of the dead or the thinning of the veil.  But frankly that is not the point.  The point is we are entering into the time of year when we can each and everyone of us reach out to those we love who have crossed over.

When people come to me for Spirit Communication, whether as an individual or in a small group Seance I tell them to find a place where they always reach out to their loved ones, whether it be in the kitchen, the car or the graveyard.  Pick one place and make it habitual.  This helps by letting your loved one know where to reach out to you.  It’s a tricky business trying to make connection from beyond the grave and every little bit helps.  If we always visited with our mother at our kitchen table then it will be the natural place for her to seek us out after she has passed on.  In my case my dad loved to ride around in the car and shoot the shit.  So naturally he stops in to visit me quite regularly when I am driving back and fourth from work.  Sometimes he will ask me to take a different road so he can check out the views or questions why he always needs to hold my basket that sits in the front seat when I travel.  Choosing a location to reach out from also helps us to be more sensitive to their presence.    Above all else let go of coincidence.  There is no such thing as coincidence!  If you find yourself suddenly singing your grandmothers favorite song while baking recognize that she is with you.  Say hello and allow yourself to feel.  We are all a lot more receptive then we think.  Our rational, programmed mind will tell us we are making things up, but if we look into our heart we will know.  If we look with our minds eye we will find them there, just through the veil watching over us…hoping we will feel them as well.  One of the wonderful things that happens when sitting with a Medium is often you find that all your coincidences were nothing of the sort as the Medium can confirm for you that the presence you feel sitting at the end of your bed at night is indeed your loved one come for a visit, or the time your cell phone rang for no reason at all was actually a loved one checking in on you.  I encourage you to break out of your rigid shell this season and allow yourself to feel how close your ancestors and loved ones are…
